Australia's refusal to go to Zimbabwe : Good only for one reason

Australian Prime Minister John Howard yesterday stepped into make his presence felt in another farce, the first one being his constant playing of the sidekick role to George Whacko Bush. Howard ordered the Australian team not to go to Zimbabwe for another farcical and utterly insignificant tour.

While a lot of people are hailing this as a snubbing of the Mugabe government and that this action will prompt Mugabe to immediately realize his follies and change his ways, nothing of that sort will happen. Do you think Mugabe gives a f*** for what Cricket Australia does? He's got better things on his mind and this will hardly bother him. If dictators' ways could be changed by cancelling sporting tours to their countries, then the first thing Bush should have done is asked FIFA to stop Iraq from playing the World Cup in 2002. That never works, Howie.

But the only positive to take from this is a lot of unnecessary, sub-standard and pathetic cricket will be avoided. For all the Australians have achieved, they dont need to play a team of wannabes and tire themselves even more. If ICC has learnt anything from the World Cup and the months before it, it should be that these wannabe teams are just a waste of time and space. If the ICC wants to make money out of them, why not just have a minnow World Cup with these buffoons? Speaking of which, India's thrashing of Bangladesh speaks volumes about the latter's fluke wins in West Indies.

A pat on the back for John Howard. He's done the right thing by stepping in and maing the decision, this way the ICC cant impose a fine on CA, because its a government decision. smart move, for whatever reasons.
