For all the t...

Where is the New Look Team India ??

For all the talk about a New Look, Resurgent Indian team with fresh legs and renewed energy, the gullible fans of Indian cricket were dished out another tired and sub-standard team. Agreed, the series was against Bangladesh, but isnt that exactly when you give newcomers a chance, so that even if they fail you have the oldies to bank on? Instead, we gave Sachin Tendulkar another pair of meaningless centuries and a Man of the Series award against a minnow team.
Worse yet, now we dont have any newcomer who was tested and who can claim a berth in the England series.

It appalls me sometimes to see the double standards in the Indian team. On one hand, Wasim Jaffer and Virender Sehwag are persisted with in Tests and ODIs respectively, whereas Mohammed Kaif is not even being considered for selection. I like Wasim Jaffer and I think he's a great batsman for Tests, but then he got a hundred because he was given a chance. Why is the same chance not given to Kaif?

Also, now with both the useless hags Ganguly and Tendulkar scoring meaningless centuries, and with Karthik doing a great job at the top, does this mean Yuvraj is out of the Test scene? Shouldnt he be preferred in Tests since he is billed as the future Captain? Why are we still sticking with Ganguly inspite of knowing his terrible record against fast bowling and bouncy pitches?

I think the problem lies in the average Indian's comfort level with mediocrity. We're used to mediocrity in everything, and so we take mediocre players into the team. Imagine Australia having a player like Ramesh Powar in the team. A guy who can neither bat, bowl or field with any level of comfort. Why do we pick him then? Dont we have any one cricketer in the country who can outdo this buffoon on the field?

Its high time Rahul Dravid put an end to Sehwag's rotting presence in the Indian team. His mere existence seems to have a demoralizing and negative effect on the rest of the team. Same with Tendulkar and Ganguly. We have a lot of young talent, like Dinesh Karthik has proved, and all they need is a chance. If we dont give it to them, then our next World Cup will be worse than the previous one. Tendulkar and Ganguly will be lions against Bermuda in trivial Test series and will cement their place in the team till they die.

Also, its indisputable that Rahul Dravid should be the captain of the team. There is no other player that can handle the pressure better than him, and work selflessly towards the team's cause without furthering his own agenda. More than anything else, we need a captain with a brain and not someone with factionist ideas.

Keeping that in mind ,the Indian ODI team to England should be:

Robin Uthappa
Gautam Gambhir
Rahul Dravid (Captain)
Yuvraj Singh
Mohammed Kaif
Dinesh Karthik
MS Dhoni
Zaheer Khan
Sreesanth
Munaf Patel
A Spinner who can really trouble batsmen. God knows who !!!!

And the Test team should be:

Wasim Jaffer
Dinesh Karthik
Rahul Dravid
VVS Laxman
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Mohammed Kaif
Zaheer Khan
Anil Kumble
Sreesanth
Munaf Patel

Again, Tendulkar and Ganguly should either quit by themselves or be shot in the head. Lets hope for a day when one of those happens.

Let the Second Test be a washout too !!!

I hope both of them get washed out and not a single day's play is possible. Why, you ask?

Because any more mediocrity in the standard of cricket played and any more nonsensical and insignificant scores, centuries and feats cannot be tolerated by any cricket-lover. We've had enough, and clearly the players have had enough. Barely a month back they finished taking part in the worst ever sports competition in the whole world, and within 2 weeks they were asked to contribute to some more meaningless cricket.

Tendulkar will score another century, and again say something equally ridiculous as this, which he said after the first Test:

"After 17 years of playing cricket, I dont think I have anything to prove, and I showed that again today".

This, after scoring a century on a cement road-like pitch, against bowlers who were struggling to stay hydrated.

Well there is something you can prove, you SOB:

Prove that you play for the country and not for your place in the team.
Prove that you can be above the mundane tactics and that you can pay your taxes regularly.
Prove that money is not more important to you than the game.
Prove that you're not a sucker for the last rupee that you can save by begging the Indian Governement.

Cant prove any of it? Here's what? Just go fuckin die !! Just in case both your selfish asses get a century each against a helpless team, coming at a strike rate of 60%. What a joke !!!

After getting his ass whipped in South Africa and the World Cup, our Master Bastard is going to show his lion's courage and aggression against a pack of sheep, the Banglas. And will add one more meaningless century to his meaningless life.

And of course our half-Bangladeshi traitor Ganguly will again prove his Comeback was not a fluke. Dont we all know he plays best when his position is in doubt, and once in the team he does everything to make Rahul Dravid's life miserable?

Until these two are thrown out of the team, Indian cricket will suffer. Howard ordered the Australian team not to go to Zimbabwe for another farcical and utterly insignificant tour.

While a lot of people are hailing this as a snubbing of the Mugabe government and that this action will prompt Mugabe to immediately realize his follies and change his ways, nothing of that sort will happen. Do you think Mugabe gives a f*** for what Cricket Australia does? He's got better things on his mind and this will hardly bother him. If dictators' ways could be changed by cancelling sporting tours to their countries, then the first thing Bush should have done is asked FIFA to stop Iraq from playing the World Cup in 2002. That never works, Howie.

But the only positive to take from this is a lot of unnecessary, sub-standard and pathetic cricket will be avoided. For all the Australians have achieved, they dont need to play a team of wannabes and tire themselves even more. If ICC has learnt anything from the World Cup and the months before it, it should be that these wannabe teams are just a waste of time and space. If the ICC wants to make money out of them, why not just have a minnow World Cup with these buffoons? Speaking of which, India's thrashing of Bangladesh speaks volumes about the latter's fluke wins in West Indies.

A pat on the back for John Howard. He's done the right thing by stepping in and maing the decision, this way the ICC cant impose a fine on CA, because its a government decision. smart move, for whatever reasons.

Why is India playing Bangladesh?

All this doesnt matter an inch, because they all fall like jokers in the real event, which is the best stage to show their skills.

Here's my idea: the ICC should act, and very quickly if some faith has to be restored in the game. Lets do the Super Series again.

Let the Australians take on the best 11 players in the world, both in ODIs and in Test cricket. Forget all the talk about the 11 players coming from different countries and that they wont have the camaraderie. It doesnt matter. We'll atleast see some better cricket being played, and since last time was the first experiment, this time should be better. And going by the way the World Cup was staged, the Super Series in 2005 was a much better tournament, and the cricket as definitely nothces above the World Cup.

But all this is possible only if the ICC stops fantasizing about its cash reserves. Will that ever happen? Huhhh...anyone's guess .

Have you missed my posts?
